What is the VET Training and Assessment Summit?

Lecture-based training is tedious, disengaging and unproductive; but participant-centred and work-based learning models can turn VET training into an innovative experience, where students can develop relevant skills and have fun in the process.

The VET Training and Assessment Summit is the only conference in Australia that focuses on the foundational elements that every trainer and VET professional should comprehend: Instructional Design - Training Delivery - Competency-Assessment - Learning technologies

Foundational elements

Instructional Design

Understanding Instructional Design is a fundamental skill for trainers and managers for creating effective learning strategies. Workshops and presentations in this track will help you to develop your knowledge about adult learning methodologies and stay up-to-date with industry trends. This track will cover topics such as blended learning, amount of training, workplace training, session planning, role-plays, scenarios, effective evaluation and more!

Training Delivery

The Training Delivery track provides trainers with the tools and resources required to deliver training that engages their audience. Workshops and presentations in this track will help you to develop your facilitating skills. Topics covered include storytelling, improvisation, science of learning, managing classroom behaviours, visual aids, best practices in facilitation, engagement and more!

Learning technologies

The Learning Technologies track is designed to provide trainers with the fundamentals of e-learning and using technology to support learning. Topics covered include e-learning design, grammar use, virtual classroom facilitations, learning ecosystems and many other tools to design a more engaging and effective e-learning program.

In a competency-based training system, assessment is the gatekeeper for quality. This track is designed to provide trainers with in-depth skills and knowledge to work with competency-based assessments. Workshops and presentations in this track will help you to develop assessment tools, understand principles of assessment, rules of evidence, identify suitable assessment types and work with an efficient RPL process.
